Marie Chenevert is the coordinator for K-8th grade faith formation and Sacrament Preparation for 1st - 8th grade. [email protected]; 919-772-5199 desk; 919-579-9936 cell phone
Marie's office hours are Sunday 11 am - 4:30 pm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 1 - 6:30 pm.
I am in the building until 8:30 leading classes.
Baptism for children ages 7-17 requires the children to be educated about our Catholic Faith and the Sacrament of Baptism.
Children's Liturgy: We offer Children's Liturgy of the Word at the Sunday 10 am Mass for any child who is kindergarten through 3rd grade age and in Mass that morning. It is only some of the Sundays during the school year. Children do not need to sign-up. Children return to sit with their family during the Presentation of Gifts Hymn.
Our youngest class is 1st graders.
1st Graders may begin the first Year of preparation for Communion. Their family is placed in a 1st Year Group. First Communion takes two school years of preparation.

Children's Group is for 3rd - 6th graders. Class allows young Catholics to spend time with other young Catholics. Lessons are presented in English.
Please teach your children the basic Catholic prayers and help them memorize the prayers: The Sign of the Cross, Our Father/ Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary, Glory Be to the Father/ Doxology, and Blessing before Meals. These are some of the most basic teachings of the Church. A child must be able to make the Sign of the Cross for the Sacraments. They may learn the prayers in the language their family speaks in the home.
Children should attend Mass. Mass is our central Catholic prayer. When a Catholic makes first Communion, he or she is joining the community in the Mass in full communion. Having an understanding of the Mass, and our parish community praying the Mass together, are very important for first Communion preparation. Please share the treasure of the Mass with your children.
